A non-profit platform that aims to transform the sport of football into a symbol of social change in India, specifically with regard to opportunities and options available to women across the country. Team Women India is our focus, female empowerment is our goal.

Pooling professional expertise

Creating a well-connected network of stakeholders is the first step in harnessing the huge reserve of available professional expertise to enroll and engage new players, and start equipping them with skills that are just as salient in a home or work environment, as they are on the football pitch.

Challenging discrimination

IWFA aims to improve not just the quality, but the quantity of women’s representation at all levels and departments of the game, by challenging discrimination and lobbying for change in the sports industry. The intent is to create a positive and empowering environment around women who play and work in this arena, and give them a sound support system to propel their growth.

Celebrating women’s achievement

IWFA champions female talent and aims to raise awareness of the physical, social and mental benefits of the game for the Indian girl child in a bid to bring about a change in attitudes to women playing and working in football, and address the gender imbalance, physical abuse and lack of female opportunity in the country.
